Inspired by our own use of FLOR carpet squares in the “Hava Nagila” exhibition, we are currently working to design and fabricate a modular acoustical wall panel system for our contribution to Interior Design’s DIFFA Interface Event this fall.

Acoustical wall panel

The system is comprised of three dimensional units, pentagonal in plan, which tessellate variably. See 1:48 model below.

Tile mock-ups

Each unit will be constructed out of a  standard FLOR 19.7″ carpet square, which is then cut, scored, and folded accordingly. We have assembled several mock components, pictured below.

The installation at the Interface event will demonstrated a sample coverage of approximately 6 feet of wall. However, ultimately the flexibility of the system means each unit can infinitely tile and be arranged to accommodate a variety of spaces.
