The exhibition Frank Lloyd Wright: From Within Outward will be on display at the Guggenheim Bilbao. The six models that Situ Studio designed for the New York exhibition will be adapted for the Bilbao museum.
In conjunction with this year's Art Under the Bridge Festival, Situ Studio will be hosting an open studio. Visitors welcome Saturday and Sunday from 12-6pm.
Situ Studio has completed fabrication work on the lobby of One Jackson Square - a residential building located at 122 Greenwich Avenue in Manhattan, designed by Kohn Pederson Fox Associates. Situ Studio will take part in a panel discussion titled Architecture’s Dimension at the Architectural League of New York. This panel is hosted by Jonathan D Solomon and Emily Abruzzo of the journal 306090 which has just launched a new issue Dimension for which Situ has contributed an essay titled Out of Control: Experiments in Participation. Other speakers on the panel include David Hays, Chris McVoy and David Ruy.
For the exhibition Frank Lloyd Wright: From Within Outward co-organized by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation and the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, Situ Studio is developing a series of analytic models of several of Frank Lloyd Wright's projects. The models will be on view from May 15 through August 23, 2009, at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
In conjunction with the InDisposed exhibition, Situ Studio developed a series of interlocking, reconfigurable fire logs, which can be assembled to function as a partition or piece of furniture. The piece titled FireWall, will be on display at Studio X from May 15-20, 10-6PM.
The Solar Pavilion Series is featured in Surface Magazine #76. In the article titled Solar Powers, Situ Studio is noted as a finalist for Surface's annual Avant Guardian Award.
The Solar Pavilion Series will be featured in the soon to be released Spacecraft 2. Published by Gestalten, the book features an international mix of temporary structures.
Situ Studio was nominated for the 2008 Iakov Chernikhov International Prize for Young Architects. The biannual competition known as The Challenge of the Time calls for work which is an innovative response to our time and simultaneously offers a challenge to the future.
The Solar Pavilion 3 was featured in the Princeton University School of Architecture publication, Pidgin # 6.
Situ Studio will give an introduction to the project “Mapping Frontiers” at the Architectural League of New York. The project was made possible by a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts.
Situ Studio’s essay "Out of Control: Experiments in Participation" will be published this month in the journal 306090.
